What A Harvest It Will Be

Galatians 6:8 (NLT)
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

It would certainly be a surprise if you planted corn and pumpkins came up. It’s a natural law to reap what we sow. It’s true in other areas too. If you gossip about your friends, you will lose their friendship. Every action has results. If you plant to please your own desires, you’ll reap a crop of sorrow and evil. If you plant to please God, you’ll reap joy and everlasting life. What kind of seeds are you sowing?

Job 4:8-9
My experience shows that those who plant trouble and cultivate evil will harvest the same. They perish by a breath from God. They vanish in a blast of his anger.

Romans 8:12-14 (NLT)
So, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation whatsoever to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you keep on following it, you will perish. But if through the power of the Holy Spirit you turn from it and its evil deeds,{*Greek put it to death} you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

“Put to death the misdeeds of the body” means to regard as dead the power of sin in your body (see Romans 6:11; Galatians 5:24). When we regard sin’s appeal as dead and lifeless, we can ignore temptation when it comes.

Romans 8 describes how we can have victory over sin.
