Hopelessly Confused

Ephes. 4:17-19 (NLT)
With the Lord's authority let me say this: Live no longer as the ungodly do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their closed minds are full of darkness; they are far away from the life of God because they have shut their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They don't care anymore about right and wrong, and they have given themselves over to immoral ways. Their lives are filled with all kinds of impurity and greed.

Living “in the futility of their thinking” refers to the natural tendency of human beings to think their way away from God. Intellectual pride, rationalizations, and excuses all keep people from God. Don’t be surprised if people can’t grasp the gospel. The gospel will seem foolish to those who forsake faith and rely on their own understanding.

Romans 1:21
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused.

Did you ever have someone tell you that they don't need to go to church because they worship god there own way privately? Or how about that they have a deal with the man upstairs, or that they are sure there going to heaven because of the good things they have done?

These people have thought their way away from God. They have believed a lie, and tried to make God fit into their sinful lives as opposed to them fitting into Gods Righteous plan.

I'm sure most of us before we were saved said things like that, but when we allowed God to come in to our lives for real and for good, we understood the false things we once believed, and recognized them as foolishness.

People who say things like that are just avoiding the fact that they need a Savior, and that they are living a life of sin which they are not ready to give up. They are indeed "hopelessly confused." Satan has closed their minds to the possibility of living victorious, so they just spiral further down into the depths of hell.

Ephes. 2:2
You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

Its up to us now, we are the people that God will use to speak into their lives, because we were once there. we acted just as they are doing now, but God saved us as hopeless as we were, so there is a hope for them.

Ask God to show you how to speak into the lives of the lost that are in your world today and give them a hope as well.

John 3:14-17 (NLT)
And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so I, the Son of Man, must be lifted up on a pole, so that everyone who believes in me will have eternal life.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.
