1 Sam 30:8 (KJV)
And David inquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Prov 3:5-8 (NIV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
All through first and second Samuel we find David inquiring of the Lord. He Purposed in his heart to do what pleased the Lord because he knew without Him he would lose. He repeats his need for the Lord all throughout the Psalms.
David, even when faced with the rage of his family being taken and his town burning at the hands of the Amalekites still had the presence of mind to seek the Lords wisdom. Sure it had to have been hard, but with out the favor of God on him he would not have prevailed in the coming battle and he knew that.
To often we run into a battle without seeking the Lord first, we get caught up in the heat of the moment, and run out into a battle were not even sure is ours to begin with, and without the Lord on our side we lose every time.
Is there a battle raging in your life right now?
Save yourself a whole lot of trouble and lift it to the Lord, who knows, You may see the battle won right before your very eyes and without fail recover all.
Gods word is good and a great source of wisdom and comfort, turn to it, and allow God to speak into your life today!
