Micah 5:10-15 (NLT)
"At that same time," says the Lord, "I will destroy all your weapons—your horses and chariots. I will tear down your walls and demolish the defenses of your cities. I will put an end to all witchcraft; there will be no more fortune-tellers to consult. I will destroy all your idols and sacred pillars, so you will never again worship the work of your own hands. I will abolish your pagan shrines with their Asherah poles and destroy the cities where your idol temples stand. I will pour out my vengeance on all the nations that refuse to obey me."
We can look back to about 750-680 B.C. and see that not much has changed over the years. there are still many people putting just about anything in place of God. Some knowingly and some unknowingly. There are people today that willfully and stubbornly have idols in there life and refuse to look to God, and yet there are others who serve God faithfully and don't realize the idols that they worship. Both are dangerous. While the person who arrogantly places idols around him will probably not get to see the kingdom short of a major interaction from God Himself, the saint who has idols unknown if made aware can repent and remove them. That Idol is anything that takes your eyes off God and gets you to focus on it.
Its Cars, money, food, sex, alcohol, toys the list could go on and on. While the unsaved doesn't have the knowledge of the bible to use, we as saints do and we should heed the warnings given so clearly because as we see in the end God will require a decision one way or the other. Him or the world!
Rev. 9:20-21 (NLT)
But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to turn from their evil deeds. They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that neither see nor hear nor walk! And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their immorality or their thefts.
These people were so hardhearted that even plagues did not drive them to God. People don’t usually fall into immorality and evil suddenly—they slip into it a little bit at a time until, hardly realizing what has happened, they are irrevocably mired in their wicked ways. Any person who allows sin to take root in his or her life can find himself or herself in this predicament. Temptation entertained today becomes sin tomorrow, then a habit the next day, then death and separation from God forever (see James 1:15). To think you could never become this evil is the first step toward a hard heart. Acknowledge your need to confess your sin before God.
