Phil 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Paul had a great outlook on things, Keep in mind when he wrote this he was in prison,shortly before he was to die. Not many of us would be able to have that kind of attitude. Paul kept his focus clear, his mission from God was to encourage the church and bring more people to Christ. He would not have been able to do the things he did if he had taken his eyes off of Christ and put them on his own circumstances.
Think back to times in your life when the pressure of the situation was just to much to handle. The more you thought about it, the worse it seemed to get. Before to long it was hopeless you were never going to see victory.
The more we analyze our current predicament, the further away from Gods power we get. Paul's answer is to pray, to lift it up to God who is the only one who can change anything anyway. Let the peace of God come over you and give you clarity. Things will look surprisingly different through that lens. Focus on what God would have you to be doing and leave the stuff we cant get to Him.
He goes on to say, stay in the word, focus on the good that God is doing fill your mind with pleasant lovely thoughts;
Meditate on These Things
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
NKJV
I have a little saying it goes like this "Garbage in Garbage out" What you put in your mind, ears, eyes is going to come out of your mouth, your thoughts and your actions. Be very careful what you are watching and listening to. If you are spending your days watching Jerry Springer than don't be surprised when you look up and the tailor you have heard described over and over is yours and the things seen there are happening in your house.
Its very hard to find something on TV that the whole family can watch. My advice;
When choosing a program to watch, just think of Jesus sitting next to you watching it with you and see if it doesn't help you to choose a better program or just shut the TV off!
