Step Aside, Let The Lord Work

1 Kings 17:1-6 (NIV)

Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."

Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: "Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.
You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there."

So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.

Elijah had just dropped a powerful word to Ahab because of all he had done to provoke the Lord to anger.
In his flesh I'm sure he would have wanted to stick around and perhaps gloat over the fact that at his word the rains had stopped. But The voice of the Lord was more powerful than that thankfully.
He told him to go hide in a valley that wasn't lush and beautiful, not a place he would have picked to vacation, but it was the place that God would use to protect him during the season that was going to play out as a result of what he had spoken.
Elijah hated what Ahab was doing against the Lord and wanted to do something to stop it as day by day people were turning away from the Lord, and the Lord was going to do something. He told Elijah to go and hide and wait on the Lord and that He would meet all his needs while he was there.

Sometimes we are called to speak a word and then move out of the way for God to do what needs to be done. If you are hearing that today, then be obedient to the word of God and step aside to let God do the work. All we will do is slow down the process by being in the way. God will supply your needs and tell you when you are to move again.
